First Furniture Flip

Sorry for the lack of posts, but for the past few months, I’ve been working hard on our place.  I've updated our kitchen and have some updates to share with you on our basement or what Jason and I have been calling "the pits".

Here is a quick post to share with you about how I flipped and sold my first piece of furniture back in August.  I've been wanting to do this for quite some time but was hesitant.  My husband finally gave me the nudge I needed after I kept asking to buy every piece of chalk painted furniture that I saw on Facebook Sale Groups, Craigslist, and in stores.

We bought this dresser off Facebook for $40.
It was solid wood and offered a ton of storage space. I decided to use Annie Sloan Chalk paint in two different colors- Old White and French Linen.  I wanted a two tone look similar to what I had seen on Pinterest, so I decided to paint the body of the dresser in French Linen.  The doors and drawers were painted in a mix of French Linen and Old White, which gave a subtle gray hue to it.   After spray painting the drawer pulls and adding new knobs, my first piece was finished.

I loved the way this dresser turned out.  It was a beauty in the end and the paint really brought out the original details in the woodwork.  It sold very quickly, which was bittersweet for me.  Even my husband was sad to see this piece go, which shows how much I'm rubbing off on him.  Now, before you ask, Why didn't you keep it?  Let me explain... In the back of my mind, I always knew that I would sell this piece.  I wanted to see what the whole process was like from start to finish (buy-flip-sell) and I also knew that we just don't have any extra space right now.  I'm glad that it went to a couple that was so excited to use it in their home and I already have my next furniture flip ready to go (and this one, I'm keeping!!).
